  1. Here is my "problem": I live in Mexico where paint.net downloads in Spanish. The instruction sheets you hold in such high esteem are in English. I speak basic Spanish but to relate the English instructions to the actual screen in Spanish is almost impossible. I read in English the step I need to take but on the screen there is no correlation e.g "select the canvas size" but on the screen there is no "canvas" to select and nothing in Spanish that translates to "canvas" (lona? cuadro?? neither!) I've tried at least a dozen times to re-download paint.net. and I select English at the prompt every time but the download always ends up in Spanish. Anyhow, I give up. I thought the forum would be a friendly place where I could ask a simple question and get a direct, helpful answer instead of condemnation for being an ignorant idiot. The attitude of the moderator is so "holier-than-thou"! So, I guess, thanks for nothing except a lot of frustration and dead ends. Paint.net seems to be a valuable tool but I guess until I can get to an English-speaking country and try for a new download paint.net is just out of my reach. And now, when I try to submit this I get the message: That email address is in use by another member. Do you need to reset your password? And then get taken to a new screen to start all over again! What a time-wasting, screwed up place to try to get information from!
  2. Is there instruction on applying layers? Please? I select the base layer from the thumbnails but how do I then select the next layer (capa 2)? If I have an image of an aquarium with only water in it and that is my base (fondo) layer, how do I make the thumbnail of a fish the top layer (capa 2) so it appears to be "in " the aquarium? And then move the fish layer to place the fish where I want it to be?
  3. My color palette is making the primary color black as a watery grey. I've clicked on every possible option to make it darker but nothing changes. Is there a way to reset the colors?🤔
  4. Thanks. It had been years since I used paint.net and I hadn't even noticed the ? icon for information. I was surpirsed at finding: Layers Layers allow an image to be composed from a stack of images that are blended together. paint.net supports many layer blend modes, layer transparency and reordering of layers with drag-and-drop. And I just don't understand that. I have a list of thumbnails across the top of the screen with the items I want to blend to create an image but as soon as I click on one it simply swaps out for the previous image. Which tool do I use to drag and drop from where to where to blend the two images, please?
  5. Is it possible to have a square eraser? Or at least one with a straight edge as in a rectangle? I think there are more straight edges to need to get closer to clear than a circular one can provide. With the eraser, when changing sizes why does it default to the "larger-than-before" size? If I use a #40 eraser to remove a lot of stuff, as I get closer in I need a smaller eraser but with the current default there are more clicks necessary than if the default was to smaller than the current size . . . just asking on that one. So, square eraser, anybody?
  6. I clicked on the eye dropper icon and the color changed from black to a light gold. I've been clicking K to try to get the black back. What am I missing? K+ something? HELP
  7. After clearing the sorrounding parts of the image I save it as .png but back in Paint the new image is not clear. I've tried opening the image in paint.net as a jpeg and as a png but the result is the same. I use the wand, clip and the checkered pattern surrounds the image. What else must I do to retain the cleared version, please? must the imported image be in jpeg, png or something else?
