Rick Brewster, BoltBait, The Windows OS keyboard shortcut (Shift key + Window Exit Button) that saves a program or application size and position has historically worked on my machines for all windows. I learned this shortcut once upon a time from the Microsoft Support site and have used it successfully in the years since. On or about the date of the 5.0.12 update, which coincides with a Microsoft Patch Tuesday, the paint.net application window stopped remembering the window size or position after it has closed. Now it opens in the top left quadrant of the display each time regardless of any action taken by the user. No other window belonging to any other application or program suffers this fate. This is on an fresh install in August on a new build, new case, new motherboard, new memory, new graphics card. Once programs were installed and backups restored the status quo resumed with no issue, until just recently. Now, having narrowed the problem down to either Windows or paint.net, has something changed with paint.net that could possibly contribute to this behavior? If not, I'll focus my efforts on Windows. I should have been more verbose in my initial post. Sorry.

New forum member. I have used the google verbatim searches, the paint.net forum searches, and a google site search of the paint.net forum with little luck. Search engines tend to conflate my issue with issues with tools inside of the paint.net application itself. This is not helpful. This behavor began around the time of the 5.0 update. It may have been triggered by a Windows update on or about that date or the paint.net update itself. The Windows key + down arrow minimize window keyboard shortcut stopped working. But only in paint.net. This keyboard shortcut continues to work for all other application windows. To troubleshoot this issue I need to know if this is my machine only, or has this occurred with other paint.net users? Another change in behavior similar to this that has occurred at this same time has me puzzled. Historically, I have been able to close windows with the Shift key while I click on the X in the top right corner to permanently set the window size and position upon reopening the application. Like the keyboard shortcut, this fails to work properly in Windows 10 now. Presently, I am clueless why or how this has come to pass. Any insight will be helpful.
