  1. Hi! I have a really important file that I saved as a .jpg and now it won't open. Here's what I did to create the .jpg file: 1. I did a screenshot of a .pdf file and copied the screenshot to paint.net using CTRL-V 2. I added text using the text tool in paint.net. 3. I saved the as .jpg becasue I don't think the office receiving the form can open a paint net file. Sometime after that, my husband deleted the "recent" list on paint.net. I never delete that list and I've asked him not to, but I guess he forgot and just deleted it. Today, I opened the .jpg file that I had saved on my PC, but paint.net can't open the file. I downloaded the newest paint version (including the latest beta release) and it gives me the same error. When I try to attach the file to the box below "drag files or choose file", neither option works. Can I send you my file to you via email? It took me 2 hours to fill in the form and I don't want to modify it until I know how I can save it safely. I've used paint.net for years and never had this problem before. Thanks for your help, Marti Masters
  2. A bunch of non-answers, insinuations, and mischaracterizing emphasis as a "shouty rant", and playing psychologist. I'm sorry I asked!
  3. Paint.Net has too many menu bars and it's distracting from my work. First,I want to get rid of the status bar at the bottom of the screen. It's constantly updating some numbers, which I find distracting. IN FACT, IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! Also, I want to get rid of the middle menu bar at the top. One menu bar that has everything would be better than THREE. I only need the upper most menu bar and the lower most menu bar at the top of the screen. I don't need the middle one. It makes my drawing window smaller and I have the proper size monitor for my work. While I get that the SE wants to add new features, I've used Paint.Net for years and find some of the forced chances are disadvantageous to my work. There needs to be a settings button to choose which menus you want to see. Expecially that bar at the bottom of the screen because moving characters are not only distracting to some of us, but also folks with vision impairments or adult ADD may find it so distracting that they will simply find another paint program. Thank you.
  4. I am unable to find a way to disable the default tool and revert to the mouse pointer. It seems that I can only choose a tool from the tool box. THIS IS VERY POOR SOFTWARE DESIGN!!! I want to use the mouse pointer most of the time when I'm loading up a photograph and want to simply view it. I certainly don't want to have to load the zoom tool or a pan tool. Those should be available when I'm using the mouse pointer or the mouse wheel. HOW DO I TURN OFF PRESELECTING A TOOL WHEN PAINT.NET LOADS??? Over the years, I've seen a lot of good and bad ideas with Paint.Net, but this latest problem is enough to uninstall the app. As a systems architect with 30 years experience, I really can't fanthom who thought preselecting a tool and not being able to shut if off was a good idea. It completely changes the way Paint.Net behaves and I can't find a way to "opt out" of this.
