I've used paint.NET for nearly 2 years and I loved it. I mainly use it to create unique images, thumbnail art (mostly YouTube thumbnails), 2D character artwork, and so on. Later on, I've discovered a feature that is able to acquire scans from a printer and/or scanner and I began using it, mostly for scanning black-and-white drawings that I've originally made on paper and attempt to digitally trace it in color. It used to work for me, even when my printer/scanner is offline. But later on, it became unusable and completely useless now, even if my printer/scanner is active and online, as this option was completely grayed out, as shown below.
If Paint.NET version 4.4.8 is available to install, then it might fix this issue.
