Lately, I have been prompted by Paint.NET to install a "platform update" in order to install the latest version of Paint.NET. When I then attempt to do this, after having downloaded the two required files, I click on the first of these to install it and it opens the "Windows Standalone Installer," which does nothing but display the words, "Searching for updates on this computer," accompanied by a Cancel button. The search goes on endlessly without result and I'm sure that, if my laptop could run forever, that's how long the search would continue. Clicking the Cancel button does absolutely nothing and the only way I can get the "Windows Standalone Installer" to cease operation is by shutting down my laptop. Thus, after five or six attempts to install this "platform update" and, thus, the latest Paint.NET update, I give up! There simply is no way to do it.
