Windows 10 Professional 64 bitm Insider Preview Verion 1709 (OS Build 1709.1002) THE latest!! aaaahhhhhh!!!!! I checked that Nvidia setting and mine base proflie was sset to the Nvidia GPU. So I changed that setting to Auto. THAT time I installed paint.net I was offered Express or Custom Installation - I wan't offered on the 3 previous attempts to install it. So, after changing that Nvidia settings paint.net did in fact install correctly!! Thanks a lot.

I have the same exact problem. And yes, I do a an Nvidia GPU secondary graphics card. The primary is an Intel GPU.

My 4.0.21 installaton crashes too! I tried that .NET Framework download but when I run it it says that I already have it installed!! My error message reads as shown in the capture attached. It's supposedly due to a Direct2D problem, a "NoHardwareDeviceException". Very frustrating!!!
