  1. Cc4Fuzzy! to clarify... I know how to do Layering, I know how to take a transparent file and add it over another as Layering, and blend/combine them into a single file... but what I want, are actual transparent textures that I can use to do the layering. Ready to use, pre designed transparent textures of old mold, cracks... anything to make it look even more worn and decayed. Let me give you guys an example... I recently bought this Texture Set, within Second Life, that I use to build structures with in Second Life... https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Urban-Textures-Condemned-Buildings-Set/7138 I can download those textures onto my computer, and modify them if I want too. What I want, are more transparent layers that I can apply over them, to make them look even more worn, rotten, decayed... more dark and grungy... But i don't really know how to actually MAKE transparent textures like that, as I am really quite the beginner with this stuff... so I am looking for any pre-made sets out there that I can acquire... The Tutorials that RED posted above, look like they might teach me how to do some similar things, and I am going to take a look at them; but I would still like to try to find some source of pre-made stuff like this.
  2. Greetings all... I am a builder in Second Life, where I can buy a lot of really nice Texture Packs to use with my build creations. Whats more is, that I am able to download these textures onto my computer and edit them using Paint.net. I like to tweak the brightness and contrast to bring out a little more detail, and then add a subtle vignette effect around the edges which gives a little bit of a vintage look. But what I am really looking for, are transparent layers that I can use to add subtle details like stains, cracks, mold, and various other details that will give the wall texture an older and more worn and decayed look.... But I really have no idea where I can find such things. Does anyone have any suggestions, or are there perhaps any Mods that I can download to Paint.net that could do this for me?
  3. Thanks for that tutorial! I tried using search for some of my answers, but got so many results, it took me forever to read through all the various threads and posts the results gave and really got me no where... grr. So I had to post my questions...
  4. Soo.. I have to basically go and completely retype the entire page of text into PDN and manually create my own word wrapping effect?
  5. Actually... Visual... Your Avatar image, is basically what I want to create... you have the "VR" appearing to be engraved into a Stone Texture. I want to do that with text that is copy/pasted from MsWord or Open Office Writer; or notepad/wordpad, etc... but also make it appear slightly aged.
  6. Not to sound to dumb.. . but how do I use "bevel"; I dont see anything like that. I did find a plugin tool that has Emboss and Relief effects that I think might do it; but how to do do the bevel suggestion? I also figuref out how to do Text Alignment, that one was right under my nose the whole time and I'm just blind! lol But I still need to figure out how to get some sort of word wrap feature so the pasted text stays within the boundries of the layer I'm going to make; as well as I need to make the layer so its background is alpha/transparent but the text remains solid.
  7. Greetings all... somewhat new to Paint.net... I have a number of textures of marble, stone, rock... much of which I use in construction projects within Second Life where I am a Builder. I have a small project in the works were someone has hired me to produce a stone structure; that has some text engraved into the stone. I have the text typed up in MS Word. But when I copy/paste that into Paint.net; there is no left/right/center alignment; and the text has no 'word wrap'... it just pastes it all as one single reeealllllly long single spaced line... like there is no bounding box to contain it. Further more, I am not sure how I could make it appear as though it were 'engraved' ... Now I do know how to make/add Layers... I use Paint.net often to manipulate many of my existing Second Life textures that I buy from within Second Life, and upload onto my computer to 'tweak' them. Sometimes I'll add an alpha transparency layer of Spanish Moss to a Stone Wall, for example, then re-upload that back into SL.. and I now have a building with stone walls, and spanish moss hanging over the walls to give it more unique look. So I know I can create a "layer" of Text, that can then be added over a stone or marble texture image... But I can't figure out how to get that text to wrap or center, or appear engraved How would I acquire these features, is there a plugin that does all this for text?
