Sometimes when I save an image after editing, the dialog that allows control of the compression level as a percentage will be displayed. This is what I want. At other times, the following dialog is displayed, which is useless for me: How do I always get the former kind where I can control the percentage of compression and therefor the file size? Thanks.

If I select the layer I want to edit, the other layer(s) are not selected, and thus not visible. Instead, I want to be able to see the other layers, but want my edits to be confined only to the one (selected) layer.

Is it possible to have a layer be visible in the composite image while editing the image canvas, yet not selected? Thanks.
