Thanks for the info...The eraser way works well if it is a small object, It is kind of a pain to have to zoom in and erase it...but I will mess around with the other ways and see which one works best...thanks again for all of ya'lls help

You can duplicate the layer, turn the top layer black and white,
then use the Eraser tool where you want the color to show through.
After all erasing is done follow up with the
Feather Object plugin effect to soften the erased edges.
Thank you for the info, I have seen this mentioned as well...is that the only way to do it? I will mess with it and see how it comes out...

Thanks,someone said something about useing layers and after duplicating the second layer to black and white, use a layer mask and rub a "brush" over the object you want to be in color... But I cant figure out what kimd of layer mask to use...if thats even what its called...thanks for the input though...

Hi, I am new to the forums, but not new to Paint.net. I am trying to learn how to make a color picture into a black and white picture with one item in the picture in color. I have searched the web and the site and have not found any thing. I searched through the Plug ins section looking for some kind of "Mask" and I have no Idea what I am supposed to be looking for - can some one please give me a step by step or point me in the direction of where to find one specifically for Paint.net. I have found various things on google pertaining to Photoshop...but I prefer Paint over photoshop... thanks for any help in advance...
