  1. To be honest, they're pretty prominently displayed already...

Hmm. I don't quite agree with that.

Here, let me show you what I mean:

aside from the posts in THIS thread (ironically), when I did a search for INSTALL PLUGIN, I didn't come up with too much helpful info.

Also, in regards to the thing that said "HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS" on the front page that you enclosed in the red-box outline...

I think I know why I overlooked that.

Right above that, was the larger title, "PLUGINS -PUBLISHING ONLY".

To me, that implied that was a forum for people to go into if they were designing their own plugins and wanted to discuss programming with one another.

It didn't seem like the place where I'd go to learn how to install plugins (which ought be far more rudimentary than creating plugins) so I tried looking in more basic sections like GENERAL-FAQ.

Ergo, instinctively, I didn't read the secondary-title for that forum, either.

    And besides...

If basic info for "how to install a plugin" doesn't appear from the forum-search, 'install plugin', that ought be considered a shortcoming that should be rectified.

  2. That's right. :)

    Installation

    Hey, thanks for the help.

    And I strongly agree.

    That information SHOULD be stickied.

Also, I should mention, I tried clicking the link in your signature:

    http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=253311#p253311

    Unfortunately, that page seems to be defunct. You miiiight want to update it. ^^;;;

Thanks again, and I also support the idea of stickying the rudimentary info on installing plugins.

  3. Hey there. I've been using Paint.NET for quite some time but am somewhat new to the forums.

    Anyway, regarding plug-ins...

I recently downloaded a series of files from browsing these forums:

    1. dpyplugins5.1.zip
    2. BoltBaitPack.zip
    3. pyrochild.2010-4-01.zip
    4. AlphaMask.zip
    5. AlignPlugin.zip

Then I ran the "extract" command on them. These were the resultant files:

    1. Rainbow Palette.txt
    2. AA's_Assistant.dll
    3. AlignPlugin.dll
    4. AlphaMask.dll
    5. BlackandAlpha+.dll
    6. Borders N' Shapes.dll
    7. Burninate.dll
    8. CircleText.dll
    9. Color Match.dll
    10. ColorBalance.dll
    11. Curves+.dll
    12. dpyColorBalance.dll
    13. Feather.dll
    14. Film.dll
    15. Flip.dll
    16. GaussianBlurPlus.dll
    17. Gradient Bars.dll
    18. Gradient Blocks.dll
    19. Gradient Mapping.dll
    20. Jitter.dll
    21. Landscape.dll
    22. Lomography.dll
    23. Metallize.dll
    24. MultiThreshold.dll
    25. Outline.dll
    26. Outline Object.dll
    27. Pastel.dll
    28. Perspective.dll
    29. PhotoAdjustments.dll
    30. Pixelate+.dll
    31. Polygon.dll
    32. pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll
    33. Random Effect.dll
    34. Random Shape Fill.dll
    35. RotateText.dll
    36. RotateTextSUI.dll
    37. ScriptLab.dll
    38. SelectionTools.dll
    39. Smudge.dll
    40. SpeechBubble.dll
    41. SpiralText.dll
    42. Splatter.dll
    43. Steganography.dll
    44. Stitch.dll
    45. Trail.dll
    46. Transparency.dll
    47. Twist.dll
    48. WaveText.dll
    49. WaveTextSUI.dll

My understanding is that all I have to do to "INSTALL" these plug-ins, is to copy and paste them from their current directory, and over to:

The reason I'm asking here? Because I spent nearly 25minutes looking through the forums for a verification that this is the proper way to install Paint.NET plug-ins. :/

Anyway, if somebody could confirm this for me, or give me other related information I should know before I try install the plug-ins in this manner, I'd appreciate it greatly.
