Twas never open source. It was released-source, which is a big difference.
I didn't want to do this and bore this list further with my question after a week of no replies... but you said I must if I want an answer so here goes:
What do you think David, is there a way to edit my cover text?
I do have a flat version to work on if that would be easier.
Also I thought of a way but not sure PAINT.net can do it... insert a colored box over the existing text and then type new text into that box.
But I haven't figured out how to get that done. Do you know of anyone
that is developing and editing e-covers? have a great day. Dave

Whether an existing cover can be edited effectively
depends on the nature of the pre-existing image.
Can you post an example of a cover that you would like to edit?
Of course if you have the existing covers
in .pdn filetype that makes things much easier.
Ok, I'm updated to v3.5.5

Does it look like this?
Yes, except mine shows PAINT.NET v3.08
I assume yours is a newer version.

Well, on Paint.NET, once text has been added, it cannot be removed. If the program you're asking about isn't Paint.NET, I recommend taking this question elsewhere.
You're in Indianapolis? We're practically neighbors, I live in Kokomo but we circulate in Indy frequently. take care Dave

It is PAINT.net ECover Engineer uses PAINT.net as their default image editor. So there is No way to do this, change text on an already existing e-cover? Well thanks for replying anyway. Dave

I just purchased the e-cover engineer on a recommendation that I could not only create e-book covers, but
edit existing ones as well, but I can't figure out how to do it. Has anyone done this? thanks Dave
How do you edit text of a 3-D e-book cover?

I want to change the title and author name at top of front surface, but bottom text can remain. Also I want to change text on edge of cover on the left of surface.
Thanks,Dave
