[How can I change the color of a photo?]

Hi , I`m new in the world of "changing" digital images and i hope you will excuse my poor english, my Norwegian is much better..

I found this program on the net and i`m very exited.....

My question is :

I would like to repaint my vintage motorbike , but i cant make up my mind about the colour. Is it possible with Paint.net to change the colour on an picture and if, how can i do it?

I`d be thankfull for any kind of answer
