  1. The links in EER's plugin index work.  Use that if all else fails.

Getting the correct plugin is not worth getting a virus or supporting lawbreaking, and we will not be posting those links in this forum.

One is not above the law simply because the thing they're looking for is not easy to find.  This is not a matter of life and death.

Now it may well be that there is a sticky that advises me to go to the index you suggest, but if like many, I come to this Forum off the Paint.Net Help tab as a one-off visitor, such a sticky is not obvious and I am left to find what I want by any means that comes to mind.

I have used Paint.net for photo processing only till now and as such have found my own way to do so.  I now have a need to manipulate text for a totally different application and turned to the Paint.net forum for assistance.  I went to the page on Tutorials and found this one

The procedure called up a plug-in called Polar Transformation by Madjik.  The download link on the tutorial didn't work, a visit to Madjik page found a collection that stated it included Polar Transformation, but when loaded into Effects only Polar Inversion was there. Download links on Madjik's page to the plug-in I wanted didn't work, so what was I to do but go back to Google and do a search.

Now you are giving me a ticking off here for downloading from elsewhere and implying I am breaking the law, but then very forum that you are moderating would seem to be so full of broken links, faulty downloads and lack of guidance to the novice user that I do have to query its value for the likes of me.

I now have a recommendation from Pyrochild for 'Circle Text' from DPY, but am having the same problem of trying to obtain a working download of a single plug-in and not a collection of 50 or so, 49 of which I don't want!

I will explore your recommendation of the plug-in index and hope that will solve my requirement.  As I said at the beginning I do hope that the error was mine in missing the guidance to this index - otherwise the irritation that comes through this post will be more than valid.

  2. I've been tasked with turning two breadboards for wedding presents. The names and the dates are to be carved on each.

I'm looking to make a template for the texts and mark through as applicable onto the border area of each board.

I looked through the tutorials and found one that did what I thought I was looking for called Polar Transformation.  This does form a line of text into a circle but I then realised that what I really want is the date text to run anti-clockwise at the 'bottom' of the board, as this plug-in does, and the names text at the 'top' to be able to be read at the same time and therefore running clockwise round the border.

Could someone help me with this please as I thought I would just be able to do this as two layers and do the rectangular to polar transform as required - but no as it would seem the plug-in only works anti-clockwise!

    Thanks

  3. @cycoshas:  Please DO NOT post links to software pirates.  The so-called plugin pack you linked to is illegally redistributing plugins without permission.  I've sent them a "cease and desist" message.

Be aware that it is ILLEGAL to redistribute plugins without the express permission of the plugin author.

NEVER download a plugin or plugin pack from anywhere but from this forum.

Hmm - that's all very well until you find that many of the links to some plug-ins off this Forum do not work and the packages do not contain all that they say they do.

I found a tutorial on this board that showed me how to get text into a circle using the Polar Transformation plug-in.  I found this listed in the author's multipack but it actually was Polar Inversion and then various links off the author's website did not work either.  Finally I did find this plug-in on the <external site>.
