[Problem with layers]

Newbie50+,

In the top menu:

Layers > Import From File...

Use this to bring the second image in

on top of the background image.

I haven't used the program much except for basic photo editing so please bear with this "newbie". I have searched and tried various ways to get 2 photos into 1 - without success.

I have a photo that I deleted the background on - saved as .gif - and I understand the checkerbox as transparent

I have a .jpg photo that I want to use as the "background".

I open my .jpg photo (want as background) and want to add the .gif photo on top but I just can't figure it out. I have tried to copy/paste, add, etc., and doesnt work. Can someone please walk me thro what I may be doing wrong -in simple how to steps please - thanks.

Thankyou so much Wither for doing a touchup. Looks way better - saved me hours trying to figure out myself. I really wanted to use this picture in a scrapbook album for my granddaughter for Xmas and now I will with your expert touchup job. Thanx again.

Just found this site. Looks like a fun program to manipulate photos. My question is: Can a flaw in a photo be fixed? I have played around but can't figure out how you would fix the flaw - being the white line running thro the photo. Can this be fixed (easily)?
