I've read the tutorial and tried to cut out an image several times with no luck. I'm doing something wrong, but don't know what. For one thing, when I add a layer, it doesn't look the pic in the tut. I REALLYwant to learn how do this. Does anyone have suggestions?

Cj has a tutorial on how to create an Andy Warhol-esque poster. When I get to the part where I'm suppose to add a new layer and drop it down, my screen doesn't change at all and I don't "see" any new layer. What am I doing wrong?
