  1. Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and paint.net. I have just started the learning curve for paint.net although I have used PSP7 extensively before but this cannot edit dds files that I use on train simulator, hence I am now learning paint.net v 5.0.13 to edit dds files for texturing TS models. I am working my way through a tutorial date 15 Jan 2023 entitled "Working with Layers" which states quite clearly that "...drawing applications only affect the active layer." but this seems to be incorrect. I am editing a dds file and need to select and copy the left hand side of a 512x512 image, flip it horizontally and paste the flipped selection to the right hand side of the image to create a horizontally symmetrical 512x512 image. The problem is that flipping or rotating the selection flips or rotates everything! I then tried to paste the selection to a second layer, deactivating the first layer by highlighting the second layer in the Layers Window, only to find that flipping the second layer flipped both layers, in spite of the above statement that "... drawing applications only affect etc etc...". I am sure that the problem is me, being a newby (DOH!!) and would be eternally grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance PaulHo
