Please fix the bug when saving JPEG format

After selecting a JPEG photo to Save As Save JPEG photo, an error of [.jpg.0.pdnSave] appears on the desktop

The most annoying part is that it cannot be deleted
Need to restart the computer to disappear

This problem has been around for a long time

I am using Windows 7 system

Strange, I don't have this bug on Windows 7.

  2. I eventually installed .net 6 from Microsoft website, and I got this message (see picture 1) : I said Yes.

Everything then seems OK during the installation of Paint.net as it went through a lot of steps, and at the end, my PC freezed again. 😢 (see picture 2, last screen when freeze happens)

    install net6 error paint.JPG

    install paint freeze.JPG

You can always try the official portable version. You don't have to install it. Just extract the archive, put your plugins in (if you use any) and you're ready to go.

You can get it from here:

    https://github.com/paintdotnet/release/releases

Btw, you should really consider upgrading to Windows 10 or 11.

OK, that could be a workaround if no other solution.

My PC is too old to upgrade to Windows 10.

Make sure you have "Platform Update" installed.

You need to upgrade to .net 6

.NET 6 is included as part of the app, there's no need to install it. If the Platform Update isn't installed, the installer will download and install it automatically (a reboot will be required).

OK, so that's not the problem.

  5. Hello
I had version 4.3.4 which worked perfectly on my PC (update of December 19, 2012), unfortunately I accepted the update 4.3.7 and its installation freeze my PC after a few minutes of progression without any error message (tried 2 times) : forced to reboot the PC.
As you forbid to terminate a previous version I no longer have Paint.net at all. 😢

I can’t tell you much more than I think I’m running Windows 7, . net 4.7.2 and the Microsoft troubleshooter finds nothing abnormal.

What else would you need to fix the problem?
