  1. I did a perspective correction on a photo I took of a tall building by rotating/tilting the image. But I had to crop the photo to fit a rectangle.

I was looking for something similar to a Photoshop perspective correction. I thought this plugin would do that.
I played around with it and really didn't see it doing anything. Not to mention that it is incredibly slow.

You're probably right. I should just get rid of it.

  2. First, this forum has been very helpful. Thank you.

I'm an old school photographer. I started out with two Nikon Fs and an assortment of Nikkor lenses. I eventually drifted away from it and sold off all my Nikons.

I recently had an opportunity to pick up a Nikon D3200 DSLR and two lenses at a phenomenal price. Needless to say, there's a learning curve that comes with digital photography.

Seeing photos from other people that had incredible range, I eventually discovered that they were doing High Dynamic Range, HDR. Unfortunately my camera does not have Auto Exposure Bracketing, AEB. And HDR  requires separate software such as Aurora to blend the images together. I can do exposure bracketing in manual with a tripod and a subject that isn't moving.

I'm not going there nor buying the software. That's why TRsHDRish plugin intrigued me.

Second, I had already downloaded Paint.net awhile ago to do some creative art and text. So, needless to say, it was fortuitous that I had something that could process photos.

In using HDRish, I noticed that it did punch up my RAW photos if you tweak the slide controls.

I still used Curves+ and RGB Saturation (both plugins) to bring the photo to something I wanted.

Forum has a limit of 5.43MB, so I can't upload the images as an example.

I'll rate TRsHDRish a seven on a scale of ten

  3. In the past this forum has been very helpful. However, I find the search engine to be painful. It will list plugins by author name then a short description.

I've typed in the items in this topic header and can't seem to get any results. I may not be doing his right, but I would've thought it would be a little easier.

Anyway, I'm looking for effects plugins such as:

    Luminosity masks or layer masks

    Dodging and burning

    Sky filters

    Polarizing filters

Anything in those areas would be appreciated.

  4. The PDF was very helpful. So was the simple guide that toe_heaad2001 offered. FYI my experience in TV production and editing has added to my knowledge of primary and secondary (complementary) color. A TV control room wouldn't be complete without a waveform and vector scope.

I understand very well what I'm looking at when I open levels and see the graph. The higher the curve the more pixels have recorded that color in that point in the scale from black to white (grey scale, which by the way, we use to use a lot in TV).

What I needed was an explanation of what the other stuff was, numbers etc. What they call dialog.

I previously was processing RAW with curves, but now knowing more of Levels, I find that I have better and more precise control of color and contrast. I also added a plugin for white balance and other effects. My Nikon does a pretty good job with Auto White Balance, though.

    Thanks again for your help.

  5. I'm using Paint v4.0.19.

When I Googled paint.net plug-ins for RAW files, I went to some of the links and clicked on a download and it got blocked. I don't remember which ones exactly. Even Chrome blocked a download.

I did download one awhile back that didn't even show any .NEF files in the RAW folder that I created. It said the folder was empty.

The one I that is showing all my raw files is RawFileType.zip. This is the one that actually shows all my .NEF files but won't import. It shows the error message that I copied and pasted in the forum.

Anyway, I went to my download folder and scanned and extracted files from RawFileType.zip.. I believe I had to manually move  to the File Types folder for Paint.

If this is an older plugin, can you suggest one that works. It's frustrating because I can't seem to find something that works and I don't want to pay $170 for Photoshop Lightroom (yet)

Google shows a link to RAWFile_binary.zip. Your thoughts on this one.

Thank you for your response. Any suggestions for a plug-in will be greatly appreciated.

  6. First, I am new to your forum and not sure if I'm doing this right. Second, Malwarebytes is blocking some stuff from you. ????

I downloaded a raw file reader. After extracting the files, It shows up as RAWfile.dll in the paint.net file types.

When trying to upload a .nef file to paint.net, I get an error message and this:

    System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'PaintDotNet.SiphonStream' from assembly 'PaintDotNet.Base, Version=4.19.6484.39094, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

       at PaintDotNet.Functional.Func.Eval[T1,TRet](Func`2 f, T1 arg1) in D:\src\pdn\src\Base\Functional\Func.cs:line 158

    What do I do???
