  1. The issue you indicates has this comment from Rick: "Seems to happen more on low-memory systems, or if the disk is bad or out of space."

My system clearly isn't low on memory and my disk has plenty of free GB. And, it only happens with images with a big sizeY.

The original poster of the issue showed a screenshot with an image of 1280x718.

  2. PaintNetSave.thumb.png.df38b702f9349e61ddbda2bd604fb59c.png

When saving PNG files with a big sizeY (~8k) the saving dialog stays stuck at ~85%, even though it says 100%... The CPU and disk are idle.

The X button to close the dialog is disabled so it cannot be clicked.

Hitting the Esc key makes the dialog disappear and sometimes I can continue to use Paint.net, but others times it is as if there was a hidden modal dialog.

The file itself doesn't seem corrupted and it can be opened afterwards.

This does not happen with images of more "normal" size, i.e. 2k by 2k.

It happens with Auto-detect bit depth but not with 8-bit.

This was tested on Win10 Home with a Core i7, 16GB of RAM and plenty of free disk space.

This has been happening for a while so it is not an issue specific with the current version of Paint.Net.

  3. Steps to reproduce problem:

    1. Start Paint.Net, obviously.

    2. Draw something in the blank image (so that it becomes "modified"), or open an image and modify it.

    3. Create a couple of new blank images (Ctrl-N). It seems to work only with more than 2 blank images.

    4. Hit Ctrl-W (Close image) and don't release it.

    5. The new blank images should close sequentially but Paint.net will crash when you get to the modified image. The "Unsaved changes" dialog box will appear before it crashes. See screenshot.

    Thanks,

    David

  4. When I click the "Send feedback or bug report..." menu I get the following error: "There was an error launching the link. You may not have an e-mail program installed", with the following exception detail:

"System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): No application is associated with the specified file for this operation

       at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)

       at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)

       at PaintDotNet.Actions.SendFeedbackAction.PerformAction(AppWorkspace appWorkspace) in d:\src\pdn\paintdotnet\src\PaintDotNet\Actions\SendFeedbackAction.cs:line 38"

Obviously I don't have an e-mail program installed, who does nowadays ? When this exception is caught it would be nice if I could get an hyper-link in the message box which points to this forum instead, or else the e-mail address which would have been sent to the e-mail program.

    Thank you,

    David
