  1. Where's the new spot to draw lines and curves from in the new version of Paint.net? I can't find it. Thanks. Nevermind, found it in the menu.
  2. I fixed it! I completely removed the previous copy from my system (all registry keys), made sure that the Windows Installer Service was running, then ran Paint as an administrator -- and now it works! Hopefully this will help others.
  3. Rats, no luck. It looks like it's a Windows error somehow. I really want to fix this, Paint.NET is the best program out there..
  4. I'm installing Paint.NET again. I've been using it for years, but just upgraded to a new computer running Windows 8 64-bit. Unfortunately, when I go to install it on the new system, I receive this: What is the code and fatal error... and how do I fix it? Download a new copy of the Paint.NET installer? Or is x64 bit going to take away another one of my best tools? Thanks for any and all assisstance.
  5. Yes, tried that, didn't work unfortunately. Did a System Restore... works now. I guess little bits just get dropped here and there occasionally, or the wrong file or registry key was "cleaned" for my protection.
  6. I've looked through the pinned topics and can't find an answer to this. The only thing that I can correlate it to is a recent registry cleaning. When I create a new file and try to save it as a PDN, I receive the error: "There was an unspecified error while saving the file. [OK]" When I create a new file and save it as as JPEG, I receive the error: "There was an unhandled error, and Paint.NET must be closed. Refer to the file 'pdncrash.log' which has been placed on your desktop, for more information." I have attached the file that it created, because I have no idea how to read it. Finally, if I attempt to open an existing PDN that I've been reading for months, Paint.NET loads the file then immediately closes, with the same error message as with the JPEG attempt. So, this has been my best shot at a repair - all failures, obviously. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with a completely new downloaded copy. Didn't help. Used the included repair file within c:\program files\paint.net, and unfortunately it didn't help. New installations of Paint.NET put a shortcut on the Desktop, but oddly enough the shortcut has no icon associated with it. I don't know what that means, but it's weird. I've done this two or three times out of desperation... no luck. If there are no suggestions, my only real alternate attempt that I can even see would be to try a good old Windows System Restore and I hate doing that. Thanks for any help.
  7. Interesting, thank you both. I'll give the plugin (and pack) a try. Basically I just want to be able to do: (color) = (color) --> PUNCH BUTTON --> (color) = (transparent). I'll keep in mind the blending issue, too. Thanks much!
  8. Hi there. I've looked all over, and can't find what I'm looking for. It might be a feature that doesn't exist. Is there any way to "define" a color as transparent? It would be easier on me than erasing the pieces that I don't need. Yup, I'm lazy! Thanks much.
  9. Ah, thank you. I can't believe it's been staring me in the face like that! This is fantastic, thank you both so much!
  10. Hello. Is it possible to create text that lies at an angle other than the horizontal? I have seen plugins with neat tricks like circles and spirals, but what I need is only to write text at an angle but otherwise in the same plane. So "hello" in a straight line, but 45 degrees from true. I've looked at rotational tools, and all I can find are horizontal/vertical flips, which are not the answer. If there is a command that I'm missing, or a plugin that would allow a text (or anything else) to be rotated along a non-90 degree axis, that would be great. Does such a thing exist? Thank you very much.
