drD Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hello! New to the forums.. I only use Paint.net once per month on average. And almost everytime I start it, it directly offers me updates. I think that's pretty annoying and could be solved in a better way. Firefox also have an update mechanism, but it does not ever get in my way - if I'm right it checks for updates in certain intervals instead of at upstart. Quote
Rubrica Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 It can be turned off. Go the the "Help" menu at the top of the screen. Somewhere in there, you can turn it off. I can't remember where exactly, but I think it's there. Quote
Ash Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 That and you should be using the latest version. Quote All creations Ash + Paint.NET [ Googlepage | deviantArt | Club PDN | PDN Fan ]
barkbark00 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Firefox...checks for updates in certain intervals instead of at upstart. So does PdN...every 5 days. So if you only use the program once a month, then every time you open it...it will check for an update... The only difference with Firefox is that it automatically downloads the update and only tells you about once the download is ready to install. I usually go for the option that lets me install after I close FF. Quote Take responsibility for your own intelligence. 😉 -Rick Brewster
