Why were my first posts were concidered 'spam' ?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks.

It appears that I somehow managed to make my first posts on this forum be interpreted as SPAM. I have read the various threads as advised and would just like clarification as to which one I fell foul of.

If it was 2) Post in the correct section then I apologise but I though that 'general discussion' was right.

If it was 23) ADVERTISING and SOLICITING then again I apologise, the only reason I made the post was that as I said in the original post, I thought the item would be handy, perhaps as a source of ideas, for those who were using Paint.Net.

I have posted on many forums covering a wide range of subjects and have never been accused of spamming, that is something that I am very conscious about, but to be accused of doing this here is a bit of a disappointment to say the least. My intentions here and any other place I post is to ask questions about something I am not sure about, or on the other side, to help others by using what knowledge I have of the particular subject.

27) Do not "bite" newcomers / newbies. Surely this could also apply here, all I was trying to do was post about a possible useful d/l, I have no links or motives to the source web site that I mentioned. After all most forums that I am on, would at least give 1 warning before taking the action that was.

No offense meant at all, just trying to understand.

SplatMan I know you mean good but this is a Paint.NET forum. Not a Photoshop forum. This could be viewed as an AD or even spam. It also something that seems to belong in the off-topic area of the forums here then in General Discussion & Questions.

Best of luck and you may want to view the rules just to be safe.

That about sums it about. Probably should've went in the off-topic area. I don't think you were intentionally spamming, though. Don't take it to heart is my opinion.

Yes, it's not like we're abolishing everything 'barbaric to the Paint.NET cause', but it was a little out of context for the forum you were posting in.

You do have to see it from our perspective, also: like members mentioned at the time, you post a link to Photoshop material on a Paint.NET-based forum. A little dodgy perhaps? Resources for a program some users (erroneously) believe to be a rival to Paint.NET. It does all scream spamalicious. Not to mention that this is covered in the Rules ;).

Anyway, what's done is done, and now you know better of it (hopefully). If the urge every comes over you to do so again, you can post it in the with no problems at all. :)

Carry on posting, we'd love to see more of you.

Now now like I said we all know you ment good by your post and no one is attacking you or out to get you. Were all friends here. If we were out to get you then non of us would be giving you advice to help you.

It just that this is a very active forum and Mods and Admins have to lock topic that don't follow rules just to keep the forums from becoming a mess.
