vzx
That tut should have been locked just for doing the whole tut in an image. Why should the reader suffer from having to try and read the image to understand it. ^^ it was mentioned but thanks for explaining this.

Stephan
...people with either computers that are incredibly old and don't show pictures... What would be the point of them visiting an IMAGE editing forum?

Ash
Stephan: Well, they could just register because they've heard we have very friendly members and interesting conversations in the overflow. Then they wouldn't need to worry about the tut section, if there's such users. Rubrica
Well, they might have two computers, but only access to the old one, and they may want to learn for when they get on the other computers. Although, I must say, that's highly unlikely.
david.atwell
I think that not posting a tut as all-image is a good idea, anyway. It's easier to read that way. Besides, long images are discouraged on the forum just as much as wide images. We prefer to see images no larger than 800px on their largest dimension. Rubrica
What if an image was 801x601? Would that be tolerated? Because an image in my gallery is.
david.atwell
Yeah, that's fine, I suppose. If you get a chance to shave a pixel off each side and re-upload it, though, it would be appreciated. -- Anyway, has everything been said here? ncfan51
No, it hasn't. I agree partially with Ryu. I disagree with the example Ryu gave, as it was too similar. Some, tutorials are considered "too simple". I doubt the average new user knew how to do that. I sure didn't in my first week. I feel that "too simple" is very opinion based--not everything has to be hard and confusing. And different versions shouldn't be locked either. New ways to do things should be appreciated. Some are locked apparently because...they don't look good to some people...? It always puzzled me why that one was locked. Also, I feel the following were unjustly locked: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23750 (a different method) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23558 (Apparently this was locked for no reason...except that it was an image? :? ) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23318 viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23256 (just because it has been done before, doesn't mean it's not helpful!) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21572 (Locked...because someone necroposted?) Please understand that we lock tutorials that do not follow these guidelines not to squelch discussion, but to prevent fighting and bickering. Sorry, it doesn't come out like that. 4. Please don't make your first post a tutorial. This I don't understand; many people lurk for several months, and when they join, they can be just as much experienced as any other poster. True, stereotypically first post tutorials aren't that good, but you can't say that universally. All I'm saying is, the second to last quote should be upheld; currently it seems everyone has forgotten. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ I am a disco dancer. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+

david.atwell
Right, I'm not going to leave this open so you can beat up the mod staff. The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior...
