Simon Brown
There have been many questions regarding installation of plugins with problems as users have tried to open the plugin with Paint.NET and I predict there are many more without the courage to ask. I am proposing a new mini-feature to Paint.NET. When a .dll is opened, a messagebox would be shown explaining to the user that informs them that this is not how to install plugins and gives them a link to the appropriate information on the web and/or explains to them how to install plugins. Simon Brown
Please use search. I requested this two weeks ago. That was a plugin installation FileType which would probably be hard to program. I am simply talking about a notification to the user about the correct way to install plugins.
Mike Ryan
Yes, but the problem lied in the fact that the Paint.NET Fietype API requires that image information be sent back to Paint.NET, from what I understood from Rick.
Simon Brown
Yes, but the problem lied in the fact that the Paint.NET Fietype API requires that image information be sent back to Paint.NET, from what I understood from Rick. Blank Canvas is usually my solution in that situation.

david.atwell
But when people try to edit the canvas later, won't Paint.NET try to overwrite the DLL with the image data? Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
pyrochild
If the plugin returns null instead of an image, there will be no blank canvas and therefore that wil not be a problem. Simon Brown
But when people try to edit the canvas later, won't Paint.NET try to overwrite the DLL with the image data? As long as the plugin only supports loading, AFAIK no.
