commander_keen Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I've a pretty fresh Windows2000 installation (with SP4) and tried to install Paint.NET 2.6 today. (I used to have v2 with .NET-framework 1.1 before in the old windows-installation and everything was fine) it gives this error: and this text in "details" ("the system could not find the specified file" does the non-English sentence say): See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'PaintDotNet.SystemLayer, Version=2.6.2244.18671, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Rick Brewster Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 While that crash dialog is up, open the following directory (via Start->Run is probably quickest): %TEMP%\PdnSetup What files are in there? commander_keen Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 wth? now this was another experience of "stuck electrons" o_0 today is the third time this machine was rebooted (cut off from AC before). the two reboots before it resulted in the same error but now setup was successfull without any errors. Neither there was new software installed or uninstalled, nor any hardware changed...weird... thx for your time. (and this very nice piece of free software ) Quote
