Currently a desktop, but at some point in the future I intend to get a cheap laptop & run linux on it & use that for internet & distractions like that wherever I happen to be & use my desktop for more serious music making & PDNing & stuff like that.

Son, someday you will make a girl happy for a short period of time. Then she'll leave you & be with men that are ten times

better than you can imagine. These men are called musicians. :D

MBL: Ever heard of Ubuntu Studio? I recommend that for music making before windows.

Can it run Reason & Cubase?

@ Stephan, my machine was built by me :)

I'm quite happy with XP for making music, it can run the programs I want & that's good enough for me.

im *always* on my HP vista laptop. always. i only go on the desktop one if i have to print out something (which isn't really often so no worries) bc i don't have a wireless printer for my laptop. i am so used to my laptop! every time i go on the desktop, the mouse and the keyboard...they are just so weird to me now!!! (bc before i got my laptop, i always used to be on the desktop) my keyboard on my HP is flat (duh), the desktop one is like, raised. so its really hard to get used to. but i don't care, im only on there for about 12 seconds.

You know that you can set up your printer to be shared across a network? Even if it isnt a WiFi enabled printer?

I think he means a local network. That is, via a wireless (or ethernet cable) router.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
