Reflecting Question!

Recommended Posts

I'm new to using paint.net, and I get most of it, just how do yo reflect an image?

I took this off another thread as an example:

banner_paintnet.png

How do you reflect words like that?

Btw I have version 3.22, so if it makes any difference between versions.

Thanks.

MadJik has a plugin in his effects pack that does that automagically. :-)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Sure, but why? It's so much easier with the plugin.

But since you asked...

1. Type the text on a new layer.

2. Duplicate that layer.

3. Layers > Flip Vertical

4. Use the Gradient tool in Alpha Mode ( :AlphaChannel: ) and draw it across the flipped text.

5. Move the reflection to about two or three pixels beneath the original. :-)

Or, if you have a plugin:

1. Type the text on a new layer.

2. Effects > Render > Water Reflection

Hope this helps!

Plugins are free. They're the extensibility part of Paint.NET, and they're available on this forum in the "Plugins" section. :-)
