Hello,

on some ImageBoards, people use ImageMasks to sort of "encrypt" parts of Images.

There are Tools like FLMASK or GMask to do this.

I wasn't able to find a explanation how exactly this Masks work.

I would like to mask/unmask Pictures using Paint.NET.

I am not very good at programming, but I would maybe try to create a plugin, if I understand how this masks work.

Maybe someone of you can help me?

Here are links to the software used for masking.

On http://www.getpaint.net/roadmap , Rick states that this is planned for a 4.xx release. :-)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Actually, David, there's a difference between Alpha Masking and the "Image Masking" josch mentions. Check out the second link provided to get an idea of the desired effect. :wink:

I've never actually seen this type of "masking" used before, and I'm baffled as to why one would want to show off an image with a section that was disrupted-but-restorable, but there are a lot of strange things I don't understand in this world, so who am I to decry it. I suppose that, for now, one could try using BoltBait's Steganography plugin, using the masked image as the main image and the unscrambled one as the hidden image, but I'm dubious as to the results.

I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance;

I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast.

Aha! I see. Well, that would be an adjustment layer, I think. :-) And thus, in the Pop Feat Reqs thread.

And I think your idea would be too destructive...
