david.atwell
The Doctor! Awesome. :-) LOVE Doctor Who. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
worldnewser
Thanks! As you can see, so do I I just can't seem to figure out why my colorizations seem a bit fake to me though :? (maybe because I'm using the wrong colors as skin tone? Or maybe because I've been staring at them for too long). Maybe it's just me. Is my topic starred because its got the word "universal" in it? or maybe I'm seeing things Quote deviantART Space and the Relative---Space Art Basics Tut (BETA)
david.atwell
Hmm..how are you recoloring? I think the stars are your imagination... worldnewser
Yeah, the star is gone now. I thought summin weird was happening there... anyway, I recolor by basically selecting (using the line/curve tool on a separate layer around the object and filling in the outlines, then using magic wand) and using color tint/color filter. If I have a good quality picture, I could use color filter quite well. But most of the time I have to use color tint because the photo quality is a bit bad (example: http://www.shillpages.com/dw/story/d2/st--2f01.jpg I get some of my screenshots from here, but sometimes I take them myself). Sometimes I get confused between a yellow-ey and orange-ey tint :? It takes quite a few layers to do Edit: Which is better to use? Color tint or Color Filter? punisherjb
your pics are nice but to call them out of this world is a bit of an exactration even if it got doc who but if you had a chuck norris pic in there you can say anything! david.atwell
Why don't you try a different way: -New layer -Paintbrush the new color -Change blend mode to Multiply (play with the blend modes; another might work, depending on the image) See if that gives you more realistic results. :-) Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... worldnewser
Thanks for the feedback! Haven't tried that yet. I think I'll try that on my next project (ie. Second Doctor ) Updated with two new images. I like everything but the hats. I can't seeem to do the captain hat real well, but meh :? Kerry
I like everything but the hats. They don't seem to fit, and it looks like they're on their foreheads. Maybe try sliding them up/back and making them a bit wider.

marc
I like your work called "Space Collapse" but i think there is missing a little more stars and a little more light. I would really like to know how you made it? Quote Firefox - take back the web | My gallery | Photoucket | Marc Ville (My Minicity)
worldnewser
Well, I meant for it to be dark. After all, the universe is collapsing Well, let's just say that the piece is the most complex I've made. It was made entirely by accident Of course, I don't remember every single step, but one tip would be that I started with a Mandelbrot Fractal, Radial Blurred it at default, Zoom Blur Deluxed at maximum and high setting, then placed a black layer underneath it. I then twisted/duplicated the zoomed fractal layer every which way using various blending modes. 8) ----- Gallery updated with one colorization Quote deviantART Space and the Relative---Space Art Basics Tut (BETA)

worldnewser
Hope that helped Marc It's a tough piece to remake 8) I tried to make a spin-off piece, but it worked out to be something besides "the end of the universe". It's more like "here's what it looks like under the ocean". Well...one update, with my newest abstract: "Underwater Peace". topezia
The 2 guys (marine and aviation?) are cute, space collapse is really cool while the second try you made (underwater peace) has in my opinion too much white in the centre I would try to give it same transparent texture of the sides (but that is just my opinion) Ciao and see you soon for your next works

worldnewser
@Topezia--Thanx for the feedback The white in the center was part of a bit more in the piece which I cut out, but now I posted the whole piece which I now think (imo) looks better. @mman6460--honestly, I just took a page outta -Expiration-'s book. I figured how -expiration- would start off and put my own spin to it Most of the stuff on them (ranks, tie, coat) was handmade. I'm not too happy with the hats, but I knew I wouldn't be that good going through all the time making the hair. I will tell you this though: the head and body are Shape 3D Renders (with the body being a half sphere map) with the shadows at different settings  Quote deviantART Space and the Relative---Space Art Basics Tut (BETA)

Here's another tip: Always keep your lightsource in mind. It'll determine where to place shadows and highlights for creases, seams, and general shading. If you don't have a consistent lightsource, it doesn't look as nice. P.S. You can just call me (e)Xpired. Quote Call me expired. Please. worldnewser
@Xpired--don't worry, I''l put the page back @marc--thanks Clouds are easy to come by (using the tut Wither wrote up on airbrush technique), but I try to expand beyond "literal simplicity" (as in going for something that looks good and didn't take 3 minutes to make). Actually, I'm not too happy with the moon, because I think I got the perspective wrong. I think that if I could see stars above, shouldn't the moon be up there as well? :? Ah well.. I'm surprised I have over 300 view in my gallery :o Thanks I'm the only one updating quite frequently, huh? 8) Don't worry, my two week vacation is now over, so I'll be slowing down. Presenting: I have a new sig/av combo.
