opieandy
Can Paint.Net help with this? I don't see a resampling or compression feature (I do see cropping, which helps some). If not paint.net, any recs for other free programs? Have a new digital camera that produces ~2-3 mb pics. Thanks, Chris
BoltBait
Well, if the files are too big, you could try Image > Resize. Select a smaller size for your pictures for viewing on the screen or emailing to friends. Of course, you want to keep the 2-3MB sized files for printing. I Like Pi
Select all, copy, paste into a new image. (This strips out all the metadata.) Save as JPEG and lower the quality as needed.

Thanks very much. That 'quality' adjustment did the trick nicely. Chris

Thanks, I tried this method and it worked nicely as well as the other one recommended. When I selected "resize", it did the first step of what appears to be a two-step resizing process (based on the estimated file size provided by the program). I then selected "save as", and at 100% quality, it reduced it another ~75%.
