Bobofthedead
Mind you, the last time a rash of plugin thread rants cropped up, the general feel was that the current one should be scrapped, and a database system should be made, with the plugins itemised and categorised neatly. I still think that's a good idea, but, based on the GIMP's bleedin' 'orrible FTP-esque (?) database, unless it can be made to look all purty-like, it's a no-go from the perspective that PdN is partly orientated at those who just want to edit pictures with ease, as opposed to The GIMP, which is designed for a power user with an infinite tolerance for bad UIs and multiple windows for the same program open on the taskbar... Rubrica
All you have to do is go back to your record and check the E-Mail address for that name. That wouldn't work, as a user may change their e-mail.
Rick Brewster
I think that the rep system ... Why is everyone still talking about post counts and reputation systems? I don't care about any of that, that's not what this discussion thread is for at all. Maybe next we should start talking about how many theme packs we should install and whether they should be Transformers or My Little Pony themed. Maybe next we should start talking about how many theme packs we should install and whether they should be Transformers or My Little Pony themed. Agreed. I gave my input Rick. I hope for the best for this forum and I stand by my arguement. There was once a great quote that went something like "Linux - you can throw the manual on the keyboard and get a command". Linux is EXTREMELY EASY to deal with if you have ever been a Windows power user, which I assume you are. As well, since we will not be able to keep the database I say go for something like IPB where spamming is taken care of in the forum itself. david.atwell
Yeah, I didn't mean for that to be a topic at ALL. I was just highlighting how little I cared whether or not post counts came along with us. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... pyrochild
next we should start talking about how many theme packs we should install and whether they should be Transformers or My Little Pony themed. Well that depends... does the Transformers one feature the bots, or Megan Fox? Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Rick Brewster
So I guess there's absolutely no chance of any real productive conversation coming from this thread, other than from HITMAN-X-. Simon Brown
So I guess there's absolutely no chance of any real productive conversation coming from this thread, other than from HITMAN-X-. I think this thread would have been taken more seriously had it been posted in GD&Q, rather than the Overflow. And an announcement. And as for the admin control panel, the admins have to use that now - so what is the difference?
Stephan
1: An exclusive PDN theme would be alright... 2: Hitman's suggestion would basically just be an on request bèta. 3: More control is always appreciated i guess. Forumer.com is REALLY limited. A separate forum would allow more customization, such as shoutboxes, chats etc. I reccoemnd adding these as a replecemnt for the deprived PDNChat on dA. HITMAN-X-
Rick i was thinking about it and I got a idea. I was going to use the IPB forum for dextut.com so I could post web content instead of making webpages (I get lazy and don't want to do html coding). Anyway why not just setup the IPB forums I paid for and use them. That way you got a place to host it with full access to the FTP, database, admin, updates, tech support and so on. then you can get all the great things that comes with IPB with out having to pay the $149.99 license fee. However to keep getting updates, downloads, and tech support they ask that every 6 months you pay $25. So what we could do there is I pay $25 for the 1st 6months when it needs to be renewed and you pay for the other 6 months when the time comes. That sound good ?. Just think about that Rick and any questions you have ask them and I be more then happy to answer them as best I can. Quote DEXTUT.COM

Guest
I know this topic has been locked, however, first, I wanted to post an apology for the downtime which took place on March 15, which upset some of you  There was a serious hardware failure and it affected the whole forumer network, because our core server was hit. I wouldn't like to see paintdotnet move away from Forumer, we have been providing a very reliable service to paint.net for years now and I'd like it to stay this way. I have singled out and placed paintdotnet forum (because I am a fan of the paint.net project) on our main server, which means that your forum is on the most closely monitored and best hardware machine (dual opteron with 6 gigs of ram). Sometimes, because paintdotnet database is very large, after server restarts there are some tables that get corrupted. If this happens, and you see mysql error, please ask Rick to email me (directly) and will fix the problem asap. Best Regards, Limez forumer.com
