@tourist---awesome knot! :) The thing I notice is that it's a recursive "knot". (It's like the new infinity symbol :P ) It would be interesting trying to make this knot in real life :)

In other news, just playing with Mandelbrot fractal, and made an interesting effect, but couldn't decide what to do with it (still in "mind block" mode :| ). So I decided to put in a rocket for effect :)

Decorative knots are hard to "tie". This is called a Carrick Mat.

th_carrickmatsm.jpg

how did you so that. Its amazing and smooth

I used the techniques in cjmcguinness' tutorial "make a chain" to "tie" it

Cool, it's good to know that some of my older tut's are still being looked at, and techniques are being adapted for new uses. Excellent work; raising at a slight angle and putting the shadow behind gives real depth.

The ends of the rope are hidden below an outside strand  . Having served in the U.S.C.G. I used to do a LOT of knot work or fancy work as it is called, it is standard practice to hide the ends of your work.

I really like the lighting effects on the rocket image.

Nice work, aguba and -Expiration-

@-Expiration-: The left side seems aliased; is that on purpose?

Also, on the right, there seems to be a few random pixels. Again, I'm not sure if that's intentional or not.

Umm ... well I used PI+ to make the land part of it, so it just came out like that. I didn't know how to make it smoother (the one on the left at least (but I could just go over it with line/curve (now that I think about it, I could do this too with the right side)))*.

I'll try and fix it.

*so ... many ... parentheses ...

I saw some funny posters on the web about homer simpson imitating fine arts masters like Rembrant, Dali, Munch and Van Gogh.

So I made this for fun like a paint of Magritte.

^^Large image so i posted the url.

Im still working on this background, Im almost done! at least i think :P.

Im stuck on what to put in the middle (the white space on in the middle of the page). I was thinking maybe a maze of pipes or something but I'm not really sure how to go about it. Any suggestions? (feel free to take the image and mess around with it)

Thanks

Kevin

EDIT

Thanks Ash for creating the brushed metal texture in the background.

Yes, it is one hundred Paint.NET. The custom brushes is a plugin written by Pyrochild/Sabrown* and I made a super soft brush for the lighting and texturing. Thanks for the good comments!

*I say Pyro because of the draw on canvas.

I don't think he used any of my code. Just used the idea.

If he'd used my code, it would have a cancel button! And not have the dialog created by the completely wrong method in his code :P
