just wanted to share with you all my very first sketch I've ever done. This morning even before my first cup of coffee voila!

I know there are some artists in the group any suggestions?

Nice.

My advice: Don't stop drawing!

You don't need fancy (read: expensive) drawing tablets of paper. Just get a box of copy machine paper.

Of course, it won't hold up as well under the eraser... but, you don't make mistakes, right? :D

Another tutorial (alpha mask) finished. That was tedious. This is Powder, the newest member of our family. Isn't she beautiful? I just could not handle the wiskers so I drew them in.

Yeah...AN ATOMIC WELL! :-P Looks a lot like MadJik's hexagrid power reactor. How did you manage yours?

It goes something like this...

1. White 800 x 600 canvas

2. Interlace (default settings)

3. Duplicate layer

4. Twist top layer +25, Twist bottom layer -25

5. Set top layer blend to lighten (a la 'Make a Wave')

6. Flatten, then Kaleidascope (4 per quarter)

7. Use Curves to colour then Duplicate layer

8. Bottom layer - zoom blur deluxe (low quality)

9. Top layer blend mode (? can't remember)

10. Flatten - duplicate layer

11. Top layer - edge detect - blend mode (overlay)

12. Bottom layer - effects > Weave

13. Flatten - duplicate layer

14. Top layer - shape 3D - sphere (scale down to fit in centre)

This is roughly what I did (I may have missed something).

Oh how I wish you could save a PDN history!

They were saying how it would make tutorials easier and how photoshop has one. Im suprised that its not in the popular feature requests.

Another abstract background...(I'm going through my abstract phase :? )

NeonAbstract640.png

This one has a kind of neon feel about it...and it's tileable, thanks to Madjik's Seamless Texture Maker plugin (in fact I used quite a few of Madjik's plugins in when creating this.

If anyone's interested in how I made it, here's the steps in shorthand.

KaleidoGen - 30:450:877

Duplicate layer

Majority - 0:5:50 (both layers)

Twist top layer +25: Twist bottom layer -25

Layer blend on top: Darken

Flatten

Seamless Texture Maker - 3:0:0

Duplicate layer

Cross Blur top layer - 25:45

Layer blend top: Glow

Adjustments - Sepia: Bottom

Flatten

Adjustments - Invert Colours

New layer - fill black

Add Noise - Max intensity: Max Colour

Effects - Film (default settings)

Layer Blend Mode - Reflect

jello ring around a kaldescopegen on tiles and of course there is a polar inversion

kaledsopenewpluginwithjellowring-1.png

this is what happens when you seamless texture it once

kaledsopenewpluginwithjellowring2.png

seamless it anymore than that and it starts to look like grandma's quilt.

Here is my attempt at actually drawing with a synapsys (sp?) pad (mouse touchie pad) I really think there has to be an easier way of creating pictures directly into paint.

I think I would like a graphics tablet(pad) but would like to see them on display somewhere before just buying one and hoping I would like it, but there is nowhere around here that even sell them :(

Take a look ---- what do you think? Definately not Oma's Lion by far!

I like it! :)

There are ways to draw things in PDN without using a tablet :)

Just not as easy...I wish I have a tablet too :?

zookey that's really good. I don't know what a synapsys pad is. Is it one of those things that you use at the postoffice? I've only been sketching total one day so far and don't think you can get the variations of pressure required for real detailed drawings. I took Bolt Baits advise and invested in a paper pad and couple pencils. walked out of local art shop yesterday afternoon with a good quality pad and 4 assorted pencils,

two excellent books by a jack hamm for under 25.00

and a name of an art instructor taking on begginers class in Sept.
