I like the 1st pic, the spark at the very center :)

And the mesh like sides.

My go at the glass orb thingy:

100%PDN, everything from scratch 8)

But not 100% happy with it :P

looks like you used a few dents effects and the hightlight were you able to change the color within the 3d or did you do this manually?

@Oma:

To line up the patterns you will need to check seashell tut :)

Glass orb, I use shape3d 3 times, there are 3 orbs in that image,

the rest I did it manually.

And I don't think I used and dents on this one....at least I can't remember doing so :?

ash the blur at the back is not realistic, not sure how to fix that though...

Easy, I added that blur in the background, and I can easily take it away.

But personally I like it 8)

Cuz the Camera (in my mind) was focusing on the orb, so the background far away is outta focus.

I like it too; it looks like heat distortion, which is very appropriate for the setting. Dents may have given a more realistic result though, but that's assuming that you were actually going for heat distortion...

edit: which apparently you weren't, but oh well.

Again, That would be easy to add :)

Thanks for the idea, I usually remember these kinda things.... :?

Esay, I added that blur in the background, and I can easily take it away.

no you need a blur, like its unfocusing, it just doesn't look right to me.

maybe unfocus, then radial blur?

uH: WHY JPEG?

That's a total example of a PNG job.

Sharp lines, few colors...

PNG is a better choice than JPEG for storing images that contain text, line art, or other images with sharp transitions.

True, but when you resize it to actually fit your desktop, the lines are sharper than ever. I guess I can upload the png version, too.

Something neat I created for fun. I didn't follow any tutorials, just made it up as I went along.

Oh, I know, I'm always lacking in the anti-aliasing department. It's something about how I do the shine/glow part.
