WhiteHawk7
So I edited an image, and it ended up creating a .pdnBak file. It adds .0.pdn.Bak onto the end of the file (e.x Profile.png -> Profile.png.0.pdnBak) and for some reason I cannot delete it even though I have admin perms. Any ways to get rid of it? I can't even move it or rename it to change the extension. Pics:
Red ochre
That looks very suspicious to me.Hopefully you will get more knowledgeable advice here soon. In the meantime I would run a virus scan. racerx
Shut down PDN and restart windows, then try to delete the file. If that doesn't work, you can try my favorite method for such things. Boot-up with a Linux distro, navigate to your problem file and delete it for good......
Ego Eram Reputo
I agree with Red Ochre - it looks suspicious to me. Suspiciously like a virus. Scan your system and verify it's clean before you do anything else. If your system comes back clean, try renaming the file (right click > Rename). Choose a simple file name and extension (like the original Profile.png). Then you can try deleting it again. pdnnoob
The last time something similar to this happened to me, it ended up being the file was already deleted and windows was just being dumb. I restarted the computer and everything was fine again. I don't remember the details, though, so it might be a different issue altogether. File extension sounds familiar, though Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. Rick Brewster
Press F5 (Refresh) in the Explorer window. Like pdnnoob says, the file might not actually be there. Sometimes Explorer doesn't refresh on its own for some reason. Second possibility is that the path length to this file is very long. Windows doesn't deal with long path names (over about 250 characters). Press Alt+D in the Explorer window and look at the path, which could be something like C:\Users\whomever\Documents\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3 .... ". If it's REALLY long, that could explain this too, since the .0.pdn.bak is adding 7 characters or something to the total path length. Rick Brewster
Also, this ".bak" stuff only shows up if you're NOT using NTFS. Which means you're saving to a FAT32 drive, or a USB stick, or a network share that's weird ... Highly recommend upgrading any of your drives from FAT to NTFS. The command line utility "convert" (comes with Windows) can be used for this. cavelamb
SO? No actual solution to this problem? Windows 7 NTFS formatted drive
Rick Brewster
OP never bothered to reply so we don't know what happened. If you're having the same issue then you should try the same things. At this point, this is highly unlikely to be an issue with Paint.NET itself and is probably something else with your setup.
