This is my first attempt at Planet making.

I wasn't able to use Shape 3D because of no admin rights on my computer

But otherwise i think it turned out well.

Critiques are welcome.

(Hopefully the image isn't to big or graphics heavy)

The planet is transparent, and it doesn't look perfectly round. Texture is cool though.

Aside from the lopsided bit, I think it looks pretty cool. I like your idea & the textures.

If you're not gonna use S3D you might wanna try out Bulge instead.

Make sure to paint over the shadow - you wouldn't have stars leaking through

I tried to use a little bit of bulge but i didn't wanna over do it.

Haven't tried bulge myself but the Lens effect often works good.

Just make a circular shaped selection somewhere on your texture and run the effect.

Afterward just cut the rest of the texture

Wow Falken that looks really good.

i like the color and texture of the planet it works good with the whole scheme of things.

The planet looks akward just sitting in the middle of the picture, maybe try moving it off to the side to give it more depth next time.

Good job though.

Nice, but why didn't you use a trans. gradient to fade out the left-most planet? That takes away from the piece.

Now, for my spacescape rating system (As seen here):

Stars: N/A (15/35) - Every spacescape needs stars.

Clouds/nebulae: 17/25 - Nebulae are a little packed and un-natural.

Planets: 22/40 - minus 13 points on 1st planet's texture and glow, minus 5 on the lack of trans. gradient on the left planet.

54/100.

Nobody learns from just saying, "Nice job."

Still, you didnt use a transparent gradient on the moon thing. I mean like this (click for full-size):

Clouds/nebulae: 22/25 - Nebulae are a little packed and un-natural. (+5)

Planets: 30/40 - Nice. Good improvement. (+8)

Others: -4 - The black horizontal border is not so good.

csm, i still dont under stand what your talking about with the transparent gradient and it makes me feel like a noob

the moon is supposed to be in front so i dont see why it should have a gradient on the right portion of it.

Anywho,

in regards to your controller piece,

Pros: The screen in the middle is a NICE touch, the buttons look pretty good as well and the color has a nice texture if you will.

Cons: Im not sure how you were intending to make the actual joysticks Ps3 and XBox like joysticks but i feel like they are to "arcade" for the controller.

The controller almost looks like a PS3 controller without the joysticks.

Great Idea and Concept.

Joysticks and Left side Keypad need improvment.

Well, I wouldn't say anything about your moon if it weren't cut off.

@csm775, love the controller. although it has a few mistakes, like the actual red joysticks, and the buttons need a few improvements. but overall, 8/10, because i could never even attempt to make such a thing.

@Mayor_McSteeze, very nice. i LOVE the blue planets texture. it really makes it stand out from the other planet. and the smaller one, pretty good, but not as good as the bigger planet. you might need to feather the edges, and the light, its a tad too big. overall, a 6/10. but please know that your bigger planets texture is brilliant, it gives it a real planet feel to it.

Good texture on the planet, and the background is pretty good, too (although one of the nebulae is cut pretty badly. Top left, a little towards the centre).

very nice texture. It would look a bit nicer with a rounder shadow on the planet, the one you've got kinda makes it look a bit flat, and try adding a few more stars- the background looks a bit plain. 8/10 stars
