Yet another dcraw based camera's raw file reader plugin for Paint.NET

Key features:

  • dcraw rebuilded as .dll (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions) so there is no needs in temporary files
small preview dialog where some parameters can be modified

RawReader 0.9 Binaries - just unzip 'em in FileTypes folder

Funny, I just got a new camera and realized I could not get the RAW files to load properly, then I check the forums and here is this. Will test it later though, thanks

There are several different RAW readers available as plugins for PDN. If this one doesn't work for you try one of the others. Plugin Index

this loader only works when adjusting the white balance. if I adjust blacks or brightness it refuses to load the image into paint.net.

best would be if paint.net could work with a larger color space than 8-bit.

But then I guess you should be using Photoshop if you need that much advanced features.

Hi,

Untill recently, I was able to import RAW images (from dslr cameras) without any problem using the RAWFILE plugin.

However, after updating PDN to v3.5, PDN still recognizes the file types, but I get the error message "there was an unspecified error while opening the file".

I saw more people were having this problem, but no real solution was proposed.

Also, reinstalling or trying other plugins (raw converter, rawloader, rawload, and rawreader) do not work.

Has anyone a clue what to do???

Cheers,

Rob

Rob, I had the same problem. None of the plugins I tried would let me open cr2 files in pdn. All pdn gave me was the same error message: "There was an unspecified error while opening this file".

I deleted and reinstalled all of the plugins (RAWFile, RawLoaderPlugin and RawReader) and even paint.net itself. After hours of this I was nearly ready to give up and delete pdn from both computer and mind.

However, I found a sollution. I suggest you try the <link to the illegal plugin pack which redistributes plugins without permission removed by EER. Do NOT post this link again & use it at your peril - you have been warned.>

This worked for me. Hopefully this might be helpful for you and others.

Good Luck!

Edit: Don't use the plugin pack. Search for RAWFile.dll ver. 1.0.0.1 (or later, probably).

That plugin pack does not have authorisation to redistribute plugins from any of the authors. Therefore it is illegal.

There have been several problems reported with that pack so I suggest that you do NOT use it.

Many of the included plugins have not been updated for the latest version of PDN. Further, there are no extra plugins provided by that pack, so anything that might have "worked" is available here (where do you think they got the plugins in the first place?)

Get your plugins ONLY from this forum, or from links provided by the author themself.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize I linked to an illegal plugin pack. That was never my intention.

However the plugin pack solved this particular problem. I have therefore isolated the plugin that decoded the RAW-files in question (CR2). It was the RAWFile.dll version 1.0.0.1

Again, I'm sorry, EER.
