BartD
There is a bug in Paint.NET where if you select something, there is an enormous CPU usage. I think it has something to do with the dashed line animation (the borders marking your selection) which it then shows.
Rick Brewster
That's not a bug. It just uses a lot of CPU. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
BartD
You are right. Bug is not the correct term here, sorry. What I tried to say (sorry, my native language is not English) was: is it possible to improve the selection animation so that it does not use that much CPU? HITMAN-X-
I don't think there is a way but if you got a Dual Core or Quad Core you could set one core for Paint.NET and leave the other core/s for system and other apps. david.atwell
Not a bug. Moved to General Discussion & Questions Quote  The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

I'm not actively investigating this specific performance issue -- but, I am looking at performance as a whole for 4.0 and how to make things more scalable and responsive. Okay, good luck with that. And thanks for your reply.
silverhammer
Well, while we're on the topic... the circle tool as well is very CPU intensive when holding SHIFT. Quote My deviantART My Pictorium Gallery My ImageShack
