Resolution

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When I create a new banner I click on File - New, a window appears, to determine the size of the canvas required. There is a setting for resolution, what should this be set at ? Is there an ideal figure to set this at, or does it depend on what you are making ? Thanks in advance, Mickmac

It depends on what you're making it for. Most computer monitors show images at 72 dpi; most printers are at their best at 300 dpi (or 600dpi, if it's REALLY important) :-)

Hope this helps.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Windows defaults to a configuration of 96 DPI.

If you don't know of any specific reason to change the Resolution, then I recommend leaving it as-is. It mostly only affects how some programs treat the image for printing.
