Simon Brown
If you have a GIF animator but not vista ultimate you can still have an animated desktop background by following these steps: 1. Make an animated GIF from your video. 2. Right click on your desktop and click "Properties". 3. Go to the "desktop" tab. 4. Click "Customize Desktop". 5. Click the "web" tab. 6. Click "New". 7. Click "Browse". Note: I strongly recomend using flash and exporting it as an SWF. 8. Find the animated gif you created in step 1 and click "open". 9. Make sure "lock desktop items" is unchecked and click "OK" and "OK" again. 10. You should now have your video on your desktop and you can drag around the edges to make it fill the screen. usedHONDA
And if I'm correct, you can embed java and flash into you desktop. In the past, I've used an HTML page as my wallpaper (no extensions required), though I'm not sure it flash works on it. If it does work, I'll make my wallpaper linerider or something Quote "The greatest thing about the Internet is that you can write anything you want and give it a false source." ~Ezra Pound twtr | dA | tmblr | yt | fb

Wither
Hmm... Running Vista Home Premium, I don't have the 'Properties' option. (It's been replaced by 'Personalize' which has a completely different interface.) Any suggestions? An animated background seems trivial, but uH's webpage of a desktop sounds useful. Quote YouTube | Myspace | deviantART
usedHONDA
There should be a "Display" or "Desktop" link either in the Personalize dialog (I think there's an Advanced button) or in the Control Panel. usedHONDA
Sweet, it works! Now I get to play flOwon my desktop! the only downfall is that I had to close my sidebar (it had transparency, lowering the game's fps to about 2). Here's the HTML I used : Note that I made the flash object 10x10 pixels smaller than my actual screen size. This is just to make sure i can Right-Click> Properties myself out of the wallpaper, if needed (as well as the ability to right-click> Refresh). usedHONDA
I found the download here: http://www.filecloud.com/file/3034/flOw+Free+Game/ Just extract everything into a folder, copy n' paste my code into a text file, change the file's location to the correct location of your "flow official.swf", save as an HTML, and apply it as your wallpaper (via right-click>properties>desktop>browse). Wither
Even though I can't get animated (or interactive) backgrounds on Vista (I checked around, I just don't see anything that that's similar to an 'Advanced' or 'Desktop' tab/window.) I have to say that flOw is awesome. Quote YouTube | Myspace | deviantART
Bobofthedead
Hmm... I'm trying it now, but if I used my transparent sidebar, would that ruin the FPS of the game? .:EDIT:. Ive done it, but it doesn't work because I just have a white background onscreen... Quote "I am the anarchist, I am the antichrist, I am the walrus, G'JOO G'GOO G'JOOB!" Myrddin
Were you trying to set it as a desktop background - that won't work - follow my tutorial. We can't because some of your steps are XP- (and earlier?) only. We can't even find something like it. I tried, but gave up quickly because I'm happy with my tree.
