Caucuses, Primaries, Elections, and Political Junk

Well, obviously it's wrong, I think Russia at the moment are not being very friendly. But it was a very volatile situation , it seemed at least. Though countries have done just as bad with very few sanctions, e.g. the whole Zimbabwe situation which was just disgraceful really.

But I see where your coming from. I just think McCain, in the situation didn't advocate caution and saying Obama is being unpatriotic was a bit short-sighted of him. Though he seems a sensible guy overall.

Well, I don't feel like responding to the banter going on here, I'm just going to give some input about the election. :D:D Okay. Carter had an 8 point lead on Reagan in the final two weeks of their election, and how did that one turn out? McCain, in my opinion, just needs to campaign in these states to get back to making this thing a 2 or 3 point race rather than 8:

Ohio

Virginia

North Carolina

New Hampshire (not so much)

Nevada

Missouri

New Mexico

Colorado

These could actually put him ahead.

I don't especially like either, but I have to say vote McCain '08!

I think that we should stop talking about McCain in the White House , and start talking about the McCain and Palin administration. The likelihood is that McCain may get too ill to properly function as president (don't flame; he hadn't had had the best of health records, or at least that's what I read the last time anyone in the UK was talking about him...), and Palin, frankly, is ill-equipped to hold the position of the most powerful person on Earth. She said that she would send America to war with Russia... Always worked, hasn't it? Plus, it's likely that the battleground in that war would be Europe: think about it from a geopolitical perspective. In addition, she does not, in my view, understand the role of VP: as an advisor and admin guy for the president, not the decision-making mechanism of his brain, like Cheney, her role model, seems to have become.

I'm an Obama man anyways. He seems to be pushing a line that is a lot more acceptable to us European Socialists - we feel that it's better to pay a little bit extra to help everyone when they need it than slip through the cracks and risk a fate far worse than higher taxation.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, one day left till the election, for those of us in the US. Time to hope for the best with the Republican party. Even though McCain is not by any means my first choice for president, he's the least of two evils. On the other hand, if the country's going to hell in a handbasket, it may as well be a Democrat carrying it. Hmmm...

Did you ever read up on Mike Huckabee? There's someone I could get behind. 2012...here's hoping. (or 2016...I'm fine with that.)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

...now that I think about it, we may have discussed this at some time before...
