Toli
Sorry for posting here. I couldn't find a better place to post, other than Localization. Unfortunately, any atempt to post in the relevant topic was useless, since the so-called translator does not really know the language he is tranlating into. The offending user is muntealb. He published a pathetic excuse for a translation there, featuring: 1. Old, irregular spelling, banned by the Romanian Academy 17 years ago and not used today except of communist nostalgics and very old or uneducated people. 2. Lots of invented words, not found in any Romanian dictionary and unintelligible by native romanian speakers. 3. Some other, less serious, errors. This is prepostereous. How can these individuals be permitted to represent my country and my language? I didn't want to start this topic at first. I tried to reason with him, but to no avail. I wanted to leave the things and forget about it. But the individual persisted and even tried to persuade Rick to include more translations (his own among them, of course) in official releases of Paint.NET! He must be stopped! Fisherman's Friend
Well, I might not be the best one to comment on this, but as muntealb browsed this part of the forum without saying something, I would suggest that you do a translation yourself, Toli? Toli
Of course you support him, because he is older than me on this forums. It is easy to say: do a translation yourself. Have you translated a software? It is not so simple as you might believe. And it takes lots of time. It is however easier and more productive to correct the blatant mistakes and not post them anymore until they obey the rules of the language. These rules are not optional, they are mandatory, even for those who dislike them. I suppose people would say something if in the English version would be: "Efects" because the writer does not like double consonants.
david.atwell
Toli - I think you misunderstood FF. I don't believe he was supporting the other user, merely asking if you would rectify what was wrong since the offending user didn't seem interested in doing so. Toli
Well, the translator does not want the mistakes being rectified. He likes them that way. He is a rebel against the standard accepted spelling.
pyrochild
Well, the translator does not want the mistakes being rectified. He likes them that way. He is a rebel against the standard accepted spelling. It's his translation; you may not like it, but if that's what he wants to do, then there's nothing you can do about it. The good thing is that if it's really as bad as you say it is, probably no one else likes it either. ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Andrew D
Well, the translator does not want the mistakes being rectified. He likes them that way. He is a rebel against the standard accepted spelling. And also, if people don't like the translation, they wouldn't want to use PDN, meaning less DL's for Rick, meaning less revenue, meaning more chance he'll fix it. Anyways, having mistakes in spelling in a translation is extremely un-professional.
Rick Brewster
I have no idea why this is in the Troubleshooting & Bug Reports forum. This isn't even a bug/problem with the shipping Paint.NET download. Fisherman's Friend
Of course you support him, because he is older than me on this forums. At least a bit of logical thoughts are possible with my brain. Counting the value of a person by days of membership is not very intelligent to me, I don't know how you think about it. And I have to disappoint you, I didn't know muntealb before. It is easy to say: do a translation yourself. Have you translated a software? It is not so simple as you might believe. And it takes lots of time. I don't think so. If you only fix the "bugs" in muntealb's (existing) translation, it will not take that long considering you have just to change the (prepared) strings in the resource file. Even if you work slow, you can get it within a weak when you work a few hours a day. Also you should mind that additional translations are an additional service you get without paying a cent. If you don't like it, switch back to English or do your own. And if Rick really would include other localizations I'm sure it would be checked if they are correct. At least a translation that would be that wrong as you claim would definately not be included, or there'd be massive complains after the release. david.atwell
Woah, folks, let's not have any drama here. Please? The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Rick Brewster
I don't understand the point of this thread. If you have a problem with a 3rd-party translation, take it up with the author. If you are that passionate it, then maybe you would do well to create your own translation instead.
