mouseffects
Is there a way to do a point to point selection? I want to more accurately cut a portion from an image but don't see a method to do it. I read a tutorial about using the lasso then magic wand but, when I tried, it didn't work very well. I used the lasso then erased the excess and it was OK but there has to be a better way. Can anyone help me (BTW...I'm very familiar with Corel PSP - formerly Jasc)
Crazy Man Dan
PDN does not have a Polygonal Select tool, but the current work-around is to create a new layer as a scratch layer, use the Line/Curve tool to draw out the shape, fill in the center with either the Paintbrush or the Paint Bucket (tolerance of 68 usually works well)*, then select this shape with the Magic Wand. With the area selected, hide the scratch layer, select the original layer, and perform the effect on that selection. It's convoluted, yes, but it's the best we have right now. * You can shortcut around this step by drawing just the shape outline, using the Magic Wand to select outside the shape, then pressing Ctrl+I to invert the selection. This way, you don't have to fill in the entirety of the shape. Another helpful hint - Instead of zooming in to get each new line to match up to the terminus of the last, you can click - drag - release to create the line, then press Enter to finalize the line. As long as you don't move your mouse beforehand, the start of the new line will match up to the end of the last.
