Bob
The title says it all, allow to reduce the download dialog in a taskbar icon, like Winrar backgd compression, you know. Quote No. Way. Rick Brewster
I agree that the update system could use some improvement. The current system is very simple, but it is intrusive when it is downloading. For 2.6 it was not improved simply because it was such a "small" release. The current plan for a future release (after 2.6) would be something like this: 1. Move the "Updates" sub-menu back over to the Help menu (durr). Instead of having a submenu with 3 items to click on, just have one item called "Check for / configure updates" (or something like that). I guess this means there would be one "settings" dialog in the program (the horror!) 2. Updates would download in the background, automatically. We would probably make use of BITS which means the download could proceed even after Paint.NET was closed. (BITS is a system component that lets you schedule download jobs to run in the "background" so they don't interfere with other downloading/network activity. Automatic Updates uses it, for instance) 3. Possibly an option to install automatically as well?
