Yes, I laughed at the reference too. :D
I didn't, we never did anything like that at school. You see? I'm deprived of a decent education.

The Fires of Pompeii gets a definite and solid 9/10 from me. On second thoughts, 9.5/10. The revelations from the two soothsayers, Lucius and Evelina, was spine tingling. Oh, and who'd o' thunk it, another 'lost' planet...

I didn't laugh at all until I watched Doctor Who Confidential where they explained it.

New poll is up! Tenth's costume won, with Fourth's scarf sliding in second place.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

we never did anything like that at school.

Neither did we. I read it in my spare time.

Also, as for that "she is coming" or whatever it was, I have another idea about it:

Hidden Content:
It could mean that the Doctor's daughter is coming back!

See my last post in this thread with a spoiler to see what I mean. It has been confirmed, bt of course, the characters don't know that. I'm probably making no sense, am I? Oh well, I was up until two in the morning trying to unstrangle myself. :D Long story.

Even if I knew of it, I probably still wouldn't have read it: I'm more into the Greeks than the Romans, in both language and culture. The Romans tea-leafed a lot of Grecian culture and yet it's the Romans heralded for it. But that's just me nitpicking.
...coming back!
Back? I have seen spoiler threads for this on the DW Forums, but never looked into them.

Hidden Content:
I was always under the impression that, canonically, she has never been televised, apart from the indirect reference due to the fact he had a granddaughter, Susan.

I'll have to brush up a little before trusting my assumptions.

Planet of the Ood: 9/10

Loved the episode, action packed with a more "emotional" side to it, a really nice explanation to these mysterious creatures (well now they aren't any longer).

Although, what do you think, when the Ood said, "your song must end", what do you think that refers to?

Hidden Content:
I have heard rumours of the Doctor being exterminated

:D

Planet of the Ood: 9.41/10. I only give it that because there is just SOMETHING, I don't know what, I didn't like.

Also, I'm just waiting for someone to release the Ood's song of captivity, because I love it. Just my sort of my music. Unfortunately, it's a bit short. :(

Hidden Content:
I've heard those rumours too, but not just extermination. Just death, basically. Although he's apparently going to survive until at least the Christmas special, that's pretty much been confirmed.

Patience. You never know if the music will be released in the Doctor Who Series 4 OST CD. (S4 OST CD will be released when S4 finishes). Or, maybe someone like mi7gtaf will upload it onto YouTube when the series ends.

In other news, I've purchased the Doctor Who Series 1 & 2 and the Doctor Who Series 3 OST CD's!

I know, I would have sad that, but I knew you'd say that, so if I did say it, you wouldn't say that, which would make me wrong. :D Yes, I wish I had the soundtrack CDs. :( Unfortunately, I'm not allowed CDs, any sort of music player or music to go on a music player, any sort of phone, any sort of access to the internet apart from on here, the Wii and my father's laptop, and a great number of things. I shall now stop, because I am starting to sound like a spoilt little brat. Which I am.

Four takes a somewhat different approach to the previous series. There are no big binding words like 'Bad Wolf', 'Torchwood', or 'Mr Saxon'. This time, it's cumulative: an element from every episode — whether it's a person, a phrase, a question, a planet, or a mystery — builds up to the grand finale. Russell T Davies says: "You've got to watch and listen closely. It's been seeded for a long time, with small but vital references going all the way back to series one. And remember the Master, in "Last of the Time Lords", mentioning the Medusa Cascade? Oh, that's going to come back to haunt us..." (Doctor Who Magazine Issue 394)

9/10 for Planet of the Ood. No episode is ever perfect.

BotD: I like the concept RTD speaks of in that extract, because I was starting to get a little rattled with the constant name-dropping from prior NuWho. Being poked in the eye would have been more subtle than those references.

We've got a mini story arc!

Look at this picture, it is shot from a scene in Doctor Who:

Notice the AMOS sticker?

And now, if you go on YouTube and watch the trailer for S4E4, you'll hear someone says something about AMOS.

Weird, huh? :?

They just showed "Partners In Crime" on SciFi tonight.

I just turned it off.

I have...I just...it...uh...ah...ah...

Hidden Content:
ROSE?!?!?!?!? I mean, seriously?! I knew that she was going to be back this season, but...FIRST EPISODE?!?

So...I can't WAIT to see her interact with The Doctor again!

Brilliant episode, VERY well shot, and that was just...indescribable.

*whew*

Glad to get that off my chest. Pompeii looks interesting...

Since you live in the US, David, I was wondering, how popular is Doctor Who in the US? I'm assuming that it isn't as popular as it is here in the UK.

Anyway, imagine, in one episode, Donna says "Am I bothered" in her Catherine Tate style!

It's very popular among people I know. :-) And by and large, many people have heard of it. Apparently, PBS showed it for a while back in the 70s...

As for this "Bothered" stuff...to be honest, I really don't have a clue what you're talking about. :-)

Catherne Tate had a show called "The Catherine Tate Show", in the show, she had a catchphrase, "Am I bovvered?" and other ones. Suddenly, it became "popular" if you know what I mean.

Everyone knew CT for her catchphrases.

But imagine, if RTD did put in a line where CT says one of her own catchphrases from the Catherine Tate Show.

Example:

DALEK: You WILL tell us where the Doctor is!

DONNA: Face. Look at my face. Is my face bovvered?

If you've heard of one of her catchphrases, then just try to imagine Donna saying that with a Dalek!

@D.a---The Veoh website seems very reliable. Episodes aired in the UK are posted about 2-3 hours (I think. I forget) afterwards. They first post in like 3-4 parts, but usually in 24 hours the entire episode in its entirety is posted. The best part is they are uploaded in .avi format (like Divx quality). However, you need to install VeohTV. VeohTV allows one to download the videos though, so its not too bad. VeohTV streams a reduced quality version of the vid, but the downloaded video tends to be of better quality. Just a thought to help you out

Oh yeah, Pompeii is pretty good :)

@vista? : Sounds like Larry the Cable Guy's "Get 'er done..." And rather unfunny. But, then again, I wouldn't know. :-)

@worldnewser : Thanks! I'll check it out in a day or two.
