Well, now, I've missed quite a bit! :-) Those trailers look phenomenal. I can't wait.

My take on it: It's a "New Titanic." I think that makes the most sense, with the given information.

As for the poll: I'm changing it as soon as I post this. :-)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

So do I, and one other person. :-)

True, but she just doesn't hold the same staying power as Rose did. Three years vs. one year...it's just something about her.

Aesthetic nod to the past? An object of folly, perhaps?

A good plot device?

Spoilers
Whenever I read those words I always think the contents will never actually spoil it for me. I should start heeding these warnings.

Although, despite the spoil, new theme tune. Oh my God. I'm with you worldnewser on this one. Fantastic!

If anyone is remotely interested in the theme tune and/or remixes, I would heavily suggest visiting this site, http://whomix.trilete.net/?wmid=music, and heavily recommend the ones by 'Nick' (the 'Regeneration' titles), 'Hardwire', and 'JeX', among others. These particular artists perform quite interesting and Doctor Who-worthy pieces, although I do suggest litstening to a lot more than the ones by the above mentioned; some are good, some are excellent, but then some are quite frankly awful.

Still a great listen and one to pass the time with.

EDIT: these are the ones that I've downloaded...

Some are more techno and electronic than my usual taste of music, but for DW, I can make exceptions.

Sadly, no. It hasn't been shown over here yet. :-(

You may feel free to talk about it, if you just use a tiny font size.

Or so. :-) Thanks, though.

I will check it out as soon as I get home. Awesome!

Thanks, BotD.

The new theme tune is excellent, as I thought it would be. The only problem now is the title sequence; I am so used to the 'old' tune with this sequence that the new one doesn't sit right with it anymore, a little Katy-cornered with the timing if you ask me. It would not surprise me, therefore, if we were to get a new title sequence to accompany the new theme tune for 2008 and onwards.

Oh, david, if you find you're having problems with the link Bobofthedead gave, to the BBC iPlayer streaming of the episode, digest this support page which might be of some relevance:

http://iplayersupport.external.bbc.co.uk/...lvl1=4.

Do tell if it does work out for you, though.

It works for me perfectly, but I'm not sure about out of the UK...

And yes, I agree: the new theme tune is good but I don't seem to have your "out of sync" problem... Odd huh?

Actually, a new title sequence would be welcome - I really feel that the sequence reminds me of the "Make A Wave With Paint.NET" effect which the n00bs seem to be so fond of, and so, by extension, it reminds me of n00bs everywhere... :?

I think if I were to rate Voyage of the Damned, I would give it solid 9. But not more or less.

Nine out of five? Out of ten? Out of two hundred thirty-six?

:-P

Oy, I've GOT to see this episode then. Better than Blink?

I could never answer that even if you had seen it. It's a tough decision as there are factors in both episodes which warrant the higher praise, but I truly cannot decide. I think if it was not for length of VotD it would have been bad, the time gave it a movie-esque quality you only get when you watch consecutively a two-parter; this makes it a strong contender.

Purposely waited until after watching the entire episode on youtube :D .

Awesomeness! Liked the background music for this ep. Makes me think of the Master's theme redone. Opening theme seemed too melodramatic, but I think its ok after a few go arounds. I liked the Titanic storyline too. And, uh, what was wrong with the Queen's line? ok, well yea, maybe, considering that She's all like "thank you" and she was the only one that chose not to take cover. Oh the irony!

l

ol only one reference to Martha in the season 4 preview

And dA, make sure you tell us when you see the episode and rattle off a few comments
