If you're trying to do the crystalline tutorial, just do clouds with whatever color you want, and use splinter (6-10 splinters) and as color mode, "Lighten" (not the layer, it's in the effect window). You need to have both "Ed-Gregious" and "Ed-Harvey" plugins. To use them, download them from the plug-in board, and drop the ".dll" files in c:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects.
