PDN Icon Request

Recommended Posts

Ok when you set paint .NET as default to open the icon isn't very pleasing to the eye. Is there any way you can get like the photo shop Icon but a PDN Icon thats more pleasing? I don't know if this would be to much trouble? Correct me if I am wrong wouldn't it just take change in the installer to do this from reading this http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/1566

It should show an icon that represents the image contents ... although I forget if that only works in "Thumbnail" mode in XP or if it works in the other views as well. I know on Vista it shows the thumbnail except at the very smallest 16x16 setting.

Thanks

For you to set something up like this in the paint .NET installer all you need do is change the registry and add the icons to the paintdotnet.exe's resources and then link each file format to the icon in the resource of paintdotnet.exe. Also a nice feature would be able to choose PDN as the default application for certain file formats in the installer.

It's really nice.

Me, I just ripped off some logo Rick made a while ago, and icon-ized it with the Icon/Cursor plugin.

Don't asked permission, so it's just for personal use.

Edit: By the way, you don't have the rights for sharing your icons, the Paint.NET logo is © Rick &/or dotPdN LLC.

Thanks for thinking about sharing them, though :D

No. Way. I've just seen Bob. And... *poof!*—just like that—he disappears into the mist again. ~Helio

The intent of the icon's license is primarily to prevent use of the icon in (1) derivative Paint.NET software, and (2) anything else that isn't Paint.NET related (like other software, services, etc.). The Paint.NET icon is meant to identify Paint.NET, and nothing else. I'm not a lawyer and so I chose a license that was probably more restrictive than necessary, knowing that I'd have to answer permission requests on occasion. Using the icon like this for use with Paint.NET is totally fine.

Just do me a favor and put a TXT file in the ZIP saying that it's based on the Paint.NET icon, a link to it, and something saying that the original license still applies (in other words, the derivative work status does not strip or alter the original license).

Very Nice. I too have made a PDN icon for XP, but I haven't released it - but I'll put it up here for a bit -

NOTE - This is the first time I've even shown this icon to anyone.

This icon is NOT meant for public use (yet).

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
