eraser18
Political stuff... I'm sorry for being hypocritical. I remember the 2004 election well enough, and I know that it wasn't the best choice our country could have made, looking at where we are now versus where we were in 2000. I can't make excuses for any democrats that whined about Bush when he was elected in 2004, but I think I can safely say that he didn't do as well as he could have. I do respect John McCain and Sarah Palin, but I would just say that Barack Obama would be the better candidate to lead us out of this mess. Sure, maybe McCain would be an okay president - if he didn't have the weight of the world on his shoulders. So, that's all I have to say, and sorry if I misunderstood you. Let's hope for the best in 2009. Quote |Eraser18's Gallery|

Crazy Man Dan
Great fireballs of flaming fire! It's a few days old, but I haven't seen anything about it on here. jQuery is going to be included, unaltered and under its original license, in Microsoft Visual Studio. Not only is Microsoft building a better troubleshooter, they're officially supporting an open-source project as an open-source project, not forking it and going proprietary! That's it. david.atwell
In all the craziness, I missed this, and I think something that shocks Dan so much bears repeating (and not just because he hasn't been here very much recently ;-)): Great fireballs of flaming fire! It's a few days old, but I haven't seen anything about it on here. jQuery is going to be included, unaltered and under its original license, in Microsoft Visual Studio. The world's back upside-down. That's truly wild. While I'm kind of rolling my eyes about needing to get a new copy of VS (I've been working on 2008), my university provides it for free under educational license, so it's not like it costs me any money, I'm fascinated and really happy that it's going to be simpler for me to learn jQuery in the future. But more than that, I'm fascinated by Microsoft's willingness to bite the bullet and actually accept the validity of open-source content. What's next - bundling Paint.NET with Windows 7 under its original license? Quote  The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Actually, according to the article by Scott Guthrie: The jQuery intellisense annotation support will be available as a free web-download in a few weeks (and will work great with VS 2008 SP1 and the free Visual Web Developer 2008 Express SP1).Emphasis Added So, it sounds like you just have to download it, and it'll work with the 2008 you're working on. usedHONDA
^Truly awesome. My Happiness: I just hacked* my computer to tell me what my Administrator account's hash is, and then decoded that to retrieve the password I already knew in the first place! The purpose of doing all this? Kicks and giggles. In the process, I also obtained the password to my email. *though that depends on what you define hacking as. david.atwell
My happiness: I just picked Guitar Hero back up after a year+ long drought while I "detoxed." See, when a roommate moved in last year, he discovered Guitar Hero for the first time, and took to playing it every single stinking waking moment for about nine or ten months. I Was Miffed, because I like the game, but because he was playing it, (1) I never got a chance, and (2) I was so sick of it anyway I never wanted to play. But he moved out a few months ago, and I haven't heard a single squeak of a missed note since about May. So I picked it up again today. And it's finally fun again! :-) Quote  The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. usedHONDA
^So are we going to be seeing a YouTube video of you getting 97% on "Suck My Kiss"? I just hacked* my computer to tell me what my Administrator account's hash is Where was it? In the registry? In a file? In a random part of the hard disk that is not referenced in either of the first two? Well, XP passwords are stored in a file called "SAM", and can be found in C:/WINDOWS/system32/config/. However, the file cannot be accessed while Windows is running, so you either have to copy it from another OS [like USB Linux distro] or find the file elsewhere (for example, if the system was backed up to CD, there's a copy of SAM in C:/WINDOWS/repair). There are other ways to SAM like DLL injection, but from then on, it gets complicated. Once you have the SAM file and the system key [a file called SYSTEM in the same folder as SAM, obtained the same way], find a program that can de-encrypt hashes like Cain and Abel, Jack the Ripper or in my case, LCP. Kinda funny how simple it was to do all of this. Didn't take much over an hour after doing some research, and if I had to do it again, it would only be a few minutes [except for the whole brute force cracking part]. More happiness: Dinosaur Comics. It takes a while, but then you realize why it's such a genius webcomic format. Simon Brown
So in other words, one can just add a program they have written to linux which boots with it and put it on a LiveCD - which they can use whenever they want to access a computer with an admin paranoid enough to delete the hidden administrator account? Myrddin
One Window GIMP tastes good: Now the GIMP is usable in my eyes. Although, I'm hoping someone here could answer me something: the 'One Window GIMP' is a recent 2.6 development, and this seems to be a large revelation as far as the UI goes, so why has this not been hyped about? Or has it? Whatever the case, me likes. It has made the GIMP far more manageable on the Task Bar as I can be a bit window-happy. david.atwell
I still want it to have a parent window. That's how I've been structured to deal with programs since I first picked up a mouse: stuff in a box together goes together. Simple. That's why I say Paint.NET and Photoshop still taste better, even though (like you) I am glad that GIMP has one foot on the taskbar now, instead of who-knows-how-many.
