Well, it's done now. First, food. Then, update all the example code blocks at http://BoltBait.com .

EDIT: And... it's done! The syntax highlighter is only 32 lines of code, super fast, and (mostly*) accurate. See it in action here: http://boltbait.com/pdn/codelab/help/uielements.asp

One of the best features is that you can copy-and-paste from the screen right into CodeLab... something you can't do here on the forums (for some strange reason).

I tested it on IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

*Mostly: well, strings seem to give it fits. But, no one uses those, right?

Actually, there's a bug in there and I'll fix it eventually.

EDIT: Bug fixed. The only thing that gives it fits now are escaped quotes within strings. Just note, you must use < and > instead of < and > in the CodeLab scripts pasted into your HTML.

BTW, that is probably the ugliest 32 lines of Javascript I've ever written. ;)

So, I ordered a new power PC off of Newegg sporting a six core AMD Phenom II processor black edition base clocked at 32.GHz and I am happy that the monitor came a day early. That is right, Paint.NET forums: You do look sexy on twenty-four inches of awesome.

Want.

String bug fixed. The syntax highlighter handles strings, escaped quotes within strings and @"strings" properly. Still only about 35 lines. I'm done tinkering with it now. I don't think I could make the code any uglier. The only thing that doesn't work now is "/* multi-line comments */"... but, who uses those?!

I like the way it works now. So, I've moved all my tutorials off of this site and onto BoltBait.com

So, my build went flawlessly today. On my laptop, a Radial Blur at 360 degrees on the highest quality setting took about four to five minutes. On this new desktop, that has been reduced to just twenty seconds! Additionally, Speccy is reading the CPU temp at 19 degrees celsius. My happiness is around seven hundred and ninety three.

I've just realised that I forgot to mention that we have cats now. :) We got them about four weeks ago, and they've settled in nicely. They're rescue cats, so they've been a bit nervous, but considering that, they really are doing tremendously well.

I rather like the concept of rescue cats. :)

Daring creatures who dash into burning buildings where firefighters fear to venture.

Sodden felines dragging unconcious swimmers from the raging surf to safety on the beach.

I shall begin training a brace of them immediately!

===================================

Edit:

(I've started training them, and you're right, they do seem a bit nervous. ??)

  • 2 weeks later...

I do not like Python.

EDIT: Before anyone asks why, I don't really have a reason. I've played with it a few times and wrote a few forum-related scripts, and it's just not something I enjoyed working with. That's reason enough, yes?

Happiness: I finally found a game language that's simple enough for my tiny little useless brain to comprehend. :) Seriously, this is the brain that doesn't even get Python. Yeah that bad.

As long as that game language doesn't end up being GML (which is available in Game Maker), should be alright.
